Today was quite lovely. I decided to roll down my windows on the drive home, and about half the vehicles I saw, had their windows down, too. Isn't it funny how we all had the same idea? But it was so warm.

I was at the high school for a play, and I started thinking about P.G. We were on stage crew together, and I remember her climbing up into her little hidey hole up near the rafters to work the lights. You know, I don't think I ever saw her angry.

Oh, surprise. The Pittsburgh Steelers win another fixed Super Bowl! That's usually how the dirtiest team in football does it.

Love how the Steelers hold on nearly every other play and never got called on it.

Love how the refs conveniently didn't call a penalty on the Steelers player who thought he was LeBron James and was using the ball like a prop, a la "the chalk," after a touchdown. That should have been a 15-yard penalty.

Love how one camera angle clearly shows that the Steelers guy (I don't care about his name, because he can...well, that's going too far) never touched his second foot down on that last touchdown, and yet, of course, the call goes their way.

Love how the announcers show NO OBJECTIVITY and are clearly Steelers fans.

Love how Kurt Warner got called for a fumble on that last play, even though HE WAS CLEARLY THROWING THE BALL FORWARD, making it an incomplete pass that should have still been the Cardinals ball.

Love how James Harrison, "Mr. 'Defensive Player of the Year'" was BEATING on that Cardinals player like he was a UFC fighter or something. Fucker should have been THROWN OUT OF THE DAMN GAME. Sorry, punching on a guy when he's down, then he gets up, and then punching him back down? AFTER THE PLAY!!! COME ON.

But, dirty behavior is par the course for the Steelers.

If you have the Tiger version of Mac OS X, I would strongly suggest not using OnyX.

Both times I tried to use, it effed up my computer, giving me an error and "invalid node structure" every time I ran Disk Utility.

The first time, I had to wipe everything off my computer and start clean.

This time, I'm trying to get Disk Warrior and see if it can do anything. I don't feel like losing all of my stuff again, thanks.

Fourth quarter, six minutes left in the game, Cavs player Ben Wallace is NOWHERE NEAR THE BALL, when the Celtics deliberately foul him.

Why?

Because the Cavs are kicking their ass, and Wallace has one of the worst free-throw percentages in the game. The Celtics want to foul him and hope he misses so they can catch up.

They go on to do this four more times.

Wallace makes five out of the 10 free throws. We'll take that. Cavs gets the rebound on one of the misses, and LeBron makes a basket. (Although, on one of the fouls, LeBron had just made a three pointer, so it didn't count.)

But, come. One time, okay. Doing it five times? Four of them for four Cavs' possessions in a row? That is bullshit.

It's bullshit that, when the BCS National Championship game involves the Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners, the game is played in Florida.

That's giving a home-field advantage to the Gators, when the home team usually wins.

And the last BCS National Championship game? In 2008, between the Buckeyes and Louisiana State University? Where was it played? In the Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana!

I mean, come on.

This year, OSU played the Texas Longhorns in the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona, which is right next to, I don't know, Texas. And who won?

And the Rose Bowl? Penn State played USC in...California. Who won?

Don't be giving one team a huge advantage like that.

This weekend I watched the movie Valkyrie. Yes, that movie with Tom Cruise playing a German soldier (not a Nazi! They are two different things. Learn your damn history, people.).

Now, I am not thrilled by Tom Cruise as a person, but I enjoyed this movie. It was good. I would watch it again.

You may not know, but this movie reunites the writer and director of The Usual Suspects. You know what that means.

A twist at the end of the movie!

I hear you ask, "But iWoman, this movie is a historical thriller set in Nazi Germany during World War II, depicting the actual July 20, 1944 plot of German army officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler. We all know how history turns out. How can there be a twist?"

There can be a twist because most people probably never even knew that officers in the German army tried at least 14 times to assassinate Hitler. So you don't know all of history, do you, smarty pants?

I'm watching the 20 greatest Christmas songs on NBC. This show is effing ridiculous.

Number 19 is "Jingle Bell Rock" by Julianne Hough, that chick from Dancing with the Stars who thinks she's a country singer. I'm sorry, but a song that came out THIS YEAR and sung by someone only five people know is not one of the greatest Christmas songs.

This show is basically an advertisement, and the singers prob. paid to have their songs on the list.

--Twice the opossum has been spotted sleeping and/or eating on the front porch.
--For the past week or so, the Brat has been acting weird at night. Usually, he stays in through the night and gets let out when someone gets up for work around 6 a.m. Now he is waking me up at three in the morning (lots of thanks) to be let out. When he gets on the porch, he starts meowing this awful sound, like he's calling someone. He's never done that before. And when I tapped the window at him one time, he looked at me guiltily - I swear! - and ran who knows where.
--He's all wore out, ragged, and sleepy when he comes inside in the morning and afternoon.

So ABC has canceled two of my favorite television shows, Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone. And it's the last season for Boston Legal. ABC always cancels good shows, and yet crap like Private Practice is still on.

Life on Mars is still on. If that gets canceled, I'm never watching any new shows on ABC again. What is the point of getting hooked on something new when it won't last?

I'm not saying it's aliens or anything, but sometime in the late summer/early fall, I saw a "black triangle" flying in the sky. I personally know at least one other person who has also seen it around my area.

I found this video, and what I saw looked nearly exactly like this, the white lights at all three corners, forming a triangle, and a red light. Except I saw it from further away and didn't see the "form" of a ship, just the lights.

I don't know what it was, something to do with the government/military, I don't know, but it was weird.

Okay, weird. Obama's Web site has a section about volunteering, and one of the volunteering options is to Make Calls.

It's actually pretty neat, as you can register, view/read a tutorial, and then it will give you a list of potential voters you can call and encourage to vote for Obama. It provides a script, in case you need some help.

So I signed up for it, just to see what it was like, and my parents are listed as two of the people to call! (They give you local people to call.) I recognize some other names, too. So weird.

If you have some time to kill, consider volunteering for the campaign in this way! You can also call people in Pennsylvania or talk to people in the streets.

Yea for early voting.

There's a young man who works for Obama's office in my county.

He's not from around here, he's away from his friends and family, just one of those campaign workers who go wherever they're needed.

I've seen him several times walking the streets and sidewalks, always in a different city or village in this county. I imagine he's going door to door, trying to let people know why they should vote for Obama.

I've seen him walking in the rain without an umbrella; I've seen him walking on a sidewalk-less road. I've seen him try to convince people to sign up as campaign volunteers.

I'm just really amazed at his dedication. Knocking on people's doors - that's hard work. Because you can bet that half the people do not appreciate that. But he's trying to reach at least one more voter.

I'd like to volunteer, but I can't because of my employment. I would never go door to door, but I wouldn't mind making phone calls.

This is another reason why I don't see myself doing what I do as a career.

Today I watched several videos, from the mainstream media and from "citizen journalists" of recent McCain/Palin rallies. Some of these rallies took place in my own Ohio. I would share them, but the thought makes me ill.

John McCain and Sarah Palin should be ashamed of themselves, for promoting this hate, this ignorance, this VIOLENCE against another presidential candidate. Against another human being.

People at the Republican rallies yell out that Obama is a terrorist, that he should be killed, that he's a Muslim (and so what if he were, but that's something else entirely), that we should "bomb Obama." McCain/Palin supporters have turned into an unruly, hateful mob, and I honestly fear that violence will break out. It is SICKENING, and I can't even put into words how low I feel about it. And McCain smirks. And Palin encourages it: Obama pals around with terrorists!

I have to remember that these people are in the minority. That, for now, Obama is up in the polls. That even people like my grandmother, who has not always been the most tolerant, defends him against her friends that say they won't for a black man. They won't vote for a black man.

So Bradley Whitford seriously needs to star in a new show on television. Because he is that awesome.

Too bad Studio 60 got all weird and moved away from the relationship it should have been focusing on, that of Whitford's and Matthew Perry's characters (or just Whitford, that's fine with me), and started up with some stupid romances.

"Danny began working at Studio 60 as a segment producer, working his way up to become a co-executive producer. He resigned in 2002 as a display of support for the firing of his friend Matt Albie and went on to direct a critically acclaimed film penned by Matt. Okay, I am loving Bob Dylan at the moment. I always love him, but now I'm listening to him about 24/7, especially the albums Nashville Skyline, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and all the bootlegs with Johnny Cash (two of my favorite people ever, together!)

It's sad that so many of Dylan's lyrics are still relevant to many situations today.

So every sports team I follow basically got slaughtered this week. My old high school got killed; they didn't even make it on the scoreboard.

The Browns better win today, or this rivalry with the Steelers isn't even a rivalry. It's a dominance. To be a rivalry, there has to actually be COMPETITION.

My brother and our friend watched The Ohio State Buckeyes play in a bar last night. Oy vey. That was just embarrassing, too. Our best player was injured and didn't play, though, and it's always best to lose early in the season.

Yeah. An employee at the bar last night was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and lacked decent customer service. I think he was the night manager, which makes it worse. I don't want to get into the specifics, but let's say he lied to our face about what we could use a discount on, and refused to grant it at the end of the night; charged us for drinks the guys didn't order; and our bill was messed up in other ways, too. I say he had poor customer service because none of the things were corrected. So I wrote in a letter of complainant to the corporate office, and someone better respond, because it's the principle of the thing.

OMG.

The women on The View slaughtered John McCain today. They're better journalists than the actual media - except for Elisabeth. She's just ignorant.

I'm impressed. They shot down all of his, okay, a lot of it, bull like whoah.

Barbara pointed out that Palin sold her plane at a loss and that McCain also used the lipstick on the pig line, they pressed him to name one of her reforms and he couldn't, and they pointed out that Palin has accepted earmarks. And they called his ads lies.

They talked about separation of church and state, Roe vs. Wade. He gave some bullshit answer, and Barbara said that's an answer from someone who wants to overturn it. People in the audience were pissed when he then admitted Roe vs. Wade shouldn't have happened.

I'm just impressed that they stood up to him and weren't afraid to ask him anything they felt like.

Today I donated $80 to the Barack Obama campaign and $20 to MoveOn.org. I can't donate thousands of dollars like some people (I'm always amazed at comments on AMERICAblog about people donating that much), but I figured EVERYONE should contribute what they can, even if its $10 to $20. It makes a difference and adds up.

If you've been reading news online, you'd know that the Obama campaign needs donations, in part because of the way its rejected using public financing. The campaign relies on donations from people like us.

As a segment with Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan - both conservatives - were caught on a live mic ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.

"It's over," said Noonan.

She then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.

"The most qualified? No. I think they went for this - excuse me - political bullshit about narratives," she said. "Everytime Republicans do that - because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it."

Murphy said, "The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."

The family and I went to the Great Geauga County Fair this Labor Day weekend (and that is the official name!).

We always go to the Democrat booth to get stickers, signs, and the like. No signs this year! Bummer. And we had to pay for stickers and buttons, when usually they're free.

I did buy some buttons, mine just says "Obama '08" with the campaign symbol and the Web site address. My mom's says "Women for Obama" (she still prefers Hillary, but she says she was just trying to rile me up whenever she defended McCain. Palin firmly pushed her over, though.).

Anyway, mom was, like, "Let's go in the Republican tent!" With our buttons on. I was, like, no, no, we can't do that! She wanted someone to claim that McCain was for women, too, so she could argue with them, I guess (she was mostly kidding).

But we didn't go in. I'm too chicken, I guess, or too polite.

At the fair, it was $5 a bag at the library, so I shoved about 20 books in the bag! Good deal.

All in all, I had a v. nice Labor Day weekend.

She has been the governor of Alaska for a year and a half. Alaska, which has the population of Memphis, Tenn., or better yet, the same population as Obama's Illinois *state* Senate district.

Cuyahoga County, Ohio, has more population than Alaska.

Oh, but wait! She also was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska for two terms!

If I hear an announcer use the terms "smash" or "smashing" one more time, I will smash my TV. I have heard them say that word probably 20 times.

Also, I think the announcers are a bit rude to all of the athletes, frankly. Knock it off.

During the men's gymnastics, one of the Chinese men messed up, but he smiled after his routine. The announcer was bitchy about it, said that he didn't like to see him smiling after he messed up. WTF. It's a game. People mess up, and people should try to move on and do better on the next thing. The woman who announces the girls' gymnastics is the rudest - to both the Chinese and American girls, whining about all of their the "silly" mistakes, giving away points, blah blah blah, just cutting them down. I'm sure they do better than she ever could.

Way cool.

The brother, his friend, and I were sitting out by the pond tonight, looking at the stars.

For the first time ever, I was able to pick out a constellation!

I saw the Big Dipper, the North Star, the Milky Way, some kind of planet, and three satellites. I saw two other groupings that I thought must be constellations as well, but I couldn't identify them by name.

The brother and his friend saw a shooting star (or possibly a meteorite), though. Jealous!

ETA: One of the constellations is called the Queen (Cassiopeia)!

ETA #2: I went back out. We found the King (Cepheus), the Little Dipper, and the Dragon (Draco).

We think the planet we saw was Jupiter. I am 99 percent sure, because underneath it, we found the Shield (Scutum).

So if we saw Jupiter, then we also were prob. looking right at the Archer (Sagittarius). I don't think I could pick out enough of the shape to say I identified it, though. So I was looking at it but didn't know that I was looking at it.

And, hey, I saw three shooting stars (or meteorites).

We also saw another planet. We're not sure which one. Maybe Neptune, as it is supposed to be visible now.

This site is really useful for picking out objects in the sky.

I prob. could have found more objects, but I'm tuckered out from being at Vintage Ohio all day.

And when I first posted this, or made an edit, the time stamp read 11:11 p.m. One day, I might write a post about how I am always looking at the clock when it reads 11:11. It's really creeping me out.

I always love Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, but this year it's kind of irritating. It seems overloaded with shows about shark attacks, and so many claims of how the great white shark is so dangerous and blah, blah, blah. In the last 100 years, the great white shark has only killed 50 people. So usually the Discovery Channel is more about educating people than creating this fear...Respect the sharks!

I am sitting in a car dealership, waiting for my oil change to be finished. I have been here for an hour and 20 minutes! I think they took some walk-ins before getting to my car, which is crap because I had an appointment. Whatevs.

Freaking hell. People with my level of paranoia do not need this.

So this morning I woke up, went to fix the Internet connection, and I notice that there is a frickin' bug, like, stuck to my skin. At first I didn't know what it was. So I just pulled it off, which was not like brushing off a fly or something - it was, like, hanging on.

And I looked at the bug, and I had never seen one up close before, but I thought, shit, that looks like a tick. So I looked it up on wikipedia, which is my bestest online friend, apart from YouTube.

So now I'm all paranoid I'm going to have Lyme disease, because I remember in an episode of Joan of Arcadia, who talked to God, that a story developed that people said she was crazy and thought she could talk to God because she was bitten by a tick and had Lyme disease.

Anyway, I don't see any bite marks, though. So maybe it hadn't bitten me yet, and even if it did, I'm sure Lyme disease is very rare.

I guess symptoms don't show for, like, 24 hours, so I'll let you know if I start to hallucinate that I can talk to God or whatever. Or maybe I won't be able to tell - and you'll have to tell me if I start sounding crazy.
